Java Developer

Position Description

The Java Developer develops complex software applications, document technical requirements from user requirement specifications, modify and maintain existing applications using software development lifecycle (SLDC) methodology. The Java Developer should possess good oral and written communications skills, be a team player, self-motivated and have the ability to thrive in a multi-tasking environment. Dependability and maintaining a good attitude and strong work ethic are integral components of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Automate the deployment process for several applications.
  • Configure a continuous integration process and interface with the PMO Operations team.
  • Ensure project artifacts are deployed automatically to various environments.
  • Ensure that every project has a unified build process where possible.
  • Fix existing JEE web applications and developer new applications as necessary.
  • Researches, designs, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software.
  • Provide configuration management support.
  • Involved in planning of system and development deployment.
  • Evaluates interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of overall system.
  • Develop an understanding of clients' business and suggest effective programming solutions.
  • Develop positive and productive relationships with client personnel and the COE team.

  • Experience with data quality tools and knowledgeable in data quality approaches and techniques
  • Ability to understand abstract problems and provide innovative solutions, experience with requirements analysis and system design
  • Experience developing browser-based applications: HTML, CSS, RSS, XML and XSL.
  • Working knowledge of WebSphere Application Server
  • SQL database programming experience, Oracle, mySQL, SQL Server 2008, stored procedures
  • Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Technical documentation development skills
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Ability to document system processes and procedures in a clear manner
  • Self motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
