The Center for Organizational Excellence, Inc. (COE), today announced its sponsorship of the Data Coalition. The Data Coalition is a membership-based trade association that brings together companies, nonprofit organizations and individuals to advocate for open data standards within government.

In participating in the coalition, COE joins a growing community advocating for the publication of government information as standardized, machine-readable data. COE and the Data Coalition support the passing of legislation for adaptation of data standards across the government, with the end goal to improve data quality and enhance data-driven efforts to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse.

Additionally, the Data Coalition works to educate government leaders, private-sector innovators and the public on the benefits of data transparency. COE has experience with data standardization across government through our support of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Enterprise Human Resource Integration (EHRI) Program. We understand the challenges associated with this effort, and stand ready to help partner with agencies to decrease the cost of compliance. Our decision to support Data Coalition is an extension of the company’s dedication and commitment to providing transparent data that supports fact-based decision-making in support of our client’s mission.

“COE is proud to join the Data Coalition in their continued advocacy for data transparency in the federal government,” said Steve Goodrich, COE president and chief executive officer. “COE was impressed with the role the Data Coalition played in the federal government’s passage of the Digital Accountability and Transparency (DATA) Act. We look forward to working with the Data Coalition to continue advocating for effective implementation of the Act and for an underlying framework that will support not only transparency and accountability in government, but also improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government programs.”
